How PDFly keeps your files safe.
Every PDFly tool runs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. When you upload a file to merge, split, compress, or convert, that file is processed locally on your own computer — it is never transmitted to our servers. This means we never see, store, or have access to the contents of your documents.
Because processing happens client-side, there is no upload step and no server storage of your files at any point. Once you close or refresh the tab, any in-memory data from your session is cleared automatically.
PDFly is served entirely over HTTPS, encrypting all traffic between your browser and our website's static assets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). This protects against tampering or eavesdropping while the page loads.
Our tools use well-established open-source libraries (such as pdf-lib, pdf.js, and others) loaded from trusted content delivery networks to perform PDF operations directly in your browser. These libraries do not transmit your file data anywhere.
When you use tools like Unlock PDF or Protect PDF, password verification and encryption/decryption happen locally in your browser. Your password is never sent over the network.
