Troubleshooting
Very long documents show one big "added/removed" block instead of a detailed diff: Word-level comparison is used up to about 6,000 words per document — beyond that, the tool falls back to marking each document as a single changed block rather than a per-word diff, for performance reasons. Compare shorter sections at a time for a detailed view of long documents.
"Comparison failed": One of the files may be corrupted or password-protected. Try Unlock PDF or Repair PDF first.
Two visually different PDFs show as "textually identical": Comparison is based on extracted text only — differences in images, fonts, colors, or layout with identical text won't be flagged.
A scanned PDF shows no differences at all: Scanned pages have no text layer to compare. Run OCR PDF on both files first, then compare the results.
