Generate a multiple-choice quiz from a PDF, with 5, 10, 15 or 20 questions. The text is extracted in your browser, then sent to PDFly’s server, which forwards it to Google Gemini to write the questions. Only the first 40,000 characters are used, scanned PDFs need OCR PDF first, and the AI can make mistakes, so review the questions before you use them.

How it works

What types of questions?

  • Multiple choice: Questions with 4 answer options labeled A–D.

Limitations

  • The extracted document text is capped at 40,000 characters (roughly 10,000 tokens). Longer documents are automatically truncated to the 40,000-character limit before the quiz is generated.
  • The tool currently generates multiple-choice questions only, with 5, 10, 15, or 20 question options.

Troubleshooting

  • "No selectable text found in this PDF": The document is likely a scan with no text layer. Run OCR PDF first, then generate the quiz from the result.
  • "Could not read this PDF": The file may be corrupted or password-protected. Try Unlock PDF or Repair PDF first.
  • "Something went wrong. Please try again": The AI service may be briefly busy, or the shared daily AI capacity may have been reached. Wait a moment and retry.
  • Questions only cover the start of a long document: Text past the 40,000-character mark is truncated before generating questions — split long documents first with Split PDF.
