How PDFly removes pages

PDFly uses the pdf-lib library to copy only the pages you want to keep into a fresh PDF. The original file's content, formatting, fonts, and images are preserved exactly — only the pages you specify are excluded.

This is a lossless operation. The removed pages are simply omitted from the new file, and the remaining pages retain all their original quality and metadata.

Page number formats you can use

  • Single page: 3 — removes page 3
  • Range: 5-10 — removes pages 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10
  • Multiple: 1, 3, 5-7, 12 — removes pages 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 12
  • All except: To keep only specific pages, remove all others. For example, to keep pages 2-4, remove 1, 5- (page 5 to the end).

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing happens when I click Remove: Make sure you've entered page numbers in the correct format. The tool shows a preview of pages to remove as you type.
  • The output PDF is missing content: Check that you didn't accidentally remove pages you wanted to keep. The "Pages to keep" counter shows how many pages will remain.
  • The PDF won't open after processing: Some PDFs use features that pdf-lib can't fully preserve. Try Repair PDF on the original first, then remove pages.
  • I removed the wrong pages: Upload the original file again and re-enter the correct page numbers.
