A watermark is a visible marker, not a lock, because it can be cropped or edited out, so combine it with Protect PDF if you need to restrict editing and printing.

Use a light opacity (20-40%) diagonal watermark so it's visible without obscuring the underlying text.

Troubleshooting
The watermark spills off the edge of the page: Rotation is applied at whatever position you choose, including corners and edges — a large angle combined with long text or a corner position can push part of the text past the page boundary. Try a smaller font size, less rotation, or a center position instead.
The watermark is too faint or too strong: Adjust the opacity slider — lower values blend more with the page content, higher values sit more solidly on top.
"Failed to add watermark": The source PDF may be corrupted or require a password beyond simple permission restrictions. Try Unlock PDF or Repair PDF first.
Some characters in my watermark text look wrong: The font used doesn't support every character set — non-Latin scripts or emoji may not render as typed. Stick to standard Latin characters for the most reliable result.
